Day 1
Arrival to the Belgrade airport. Meet and greet at the airport. Transfer to hotel and check in. The rest of the day free. Overnight at the hotel in Belgrade
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide for the full day city tour. Socialist constructions next to Art-Nouveau beauties; Habsburg legacy in contrast with Ottoman relics and damaged buildings from the recent NATO bombing – all stand as witnesses to Belgrade’s tumultuous past. Visit Belgrade fortress and Kalemegdan park, a fascinating archaeological and historical site lying high above the Sava and Danube confluence. Walk around pedestrian zone – Knez Mihailova street, Republic Square and National Theatre. Among city’s most impressive landmarks visit the St Sava Cathedral, the biggest Orthodox Church on the Balkans, and the House of Flowers, the resting place of the former Yugoslav president Tito. Overnight in Belgrade.
Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide for the full day Vojvodina city tour: Novi Sad ( European Capital of culture for 2022) known as a heaven of tranquillity and tolerance multi ethnic and cultural, with natural elegance and old city charm. One of the first impressions the city makes, is that it is a city of well-tended beauty. Its architecture and spirit have been shaped by many a nations. Easy-going and surrounded by fertile lowland, Fruška Mountain and the river Danube, this city is a pearl amongst the Serbian cities. It is also called the “Serbian Athens” It is home to south-east Europe’s largest music festival, EXIT which has earned a global reputation for its diversity and cutting-edge music.
Petrovaradin Fortress – located across the Danube overlooking Novi Sad because of its strategic role through the centuries has long been known as the “Gibraltar of the Danube”. Today it is a town museum. Fruška Gora is often compared to Sveta Gora (Holy Mountain) for its impressive complex of Serbian medieval monasteries of great beauty and priceless spiritual value. Ever since late middle ages, thick forests of Fruška Gora, protected by a mighty river Danube, offered shelter to Serbian spirituality, art and culture.. Seventeen monasteries on Fruška Gora make a unique collection of densely distributed shrines built during a time span from 15th until 17th century as Serbian royal families’ endowments.
The town of Sremski Karlovci combines: history, religion, wine and beauty. It stood as the cultural, political and religious centre of the Serbian people in the Austro-Hungarian Empire for two full centuries. This baroque town is a former seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Habsburg Monarchy. The town is also well known for wine, one variety being absolutely unique in the World – the Bermet. Return to Belgrade. Overnight at the hotel in Belgrade.
Day 4
Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, transfer to full day tour; Discover hidden pearls of Serbian medieval culture – Monastery of Manasija founded by Despot Stefan Lazarević between 1406 and 1418 (one of the most impressive historical figure, who upgraded art, culture and made Belgrade the capital) The walls around monastery are forming fortress, and the frescoes inside of the monastery are the best Byzantine decoration, and the most valuable from 15 century.
Visit Resava Cave, one of the oldest in Serbia whose existence estimate to 80 million years, with the most beautiful and oldest cave ornaments date 45 million years back.
Next stop is Waterfall Lisine, a monument of Nature, located on the slopes of the Mountain Beljanica. The spring with water course and the waterfall make Geo-morphologic complex of picturesque beauty and providing the unique natural value of Serbia. Lisine is over 20 meters high and is one of the highest and most impressive waterfalls in Serbia.Overnight at the hotel in Belgrade.
Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel. Journey to Topola and Oplenac, 70km from Belgrade. Topola is a located in the very heart of Šumadija, in the vineyards area, known for the world famous wine production. This small town, rich in history, tells us a tale about the royal family Karađorđević, whose history began here. Karađorđe Petrović, the leader of the First Serbian Uprising against of Ottoman Empire and founder of Karađorđević dynasty was born here. Visit to the town and to the memory complex devoted to him. This town was the centre of many historical events during the 18th, 19th and 20th century. Above Topola, on the hill of Oplenac is a complex comprising of the St. George Church, the Karadjordjevic Dynasty Mausoleum. White marbled five-domed Church is one of the best achievements of fresco painting in Serbia. The vibrant mosaics are magnificently rendered with over 40 million pieces of coloured glass. The relics of the Karadjordjevic dynasty are placed in the crypt. Overnight at the hotel in Belgrade.
Day 6
Breakfast at the hotel. Optional tour to impressive archaeological Prehistoric, Roman and Medieval sites along the great Danube river. The beautiful medieval Golubac Fortress where mighty river Danube is the widest at it’s whole course. Constructed on a cliff on the entrance to Djerdap gorge, this fortress controlled the navigation on Danube. This magnificent fortress built in the 14th century was under the rule of Hungarians, Serbs and Turks during the history, and was very important because of its position between two empires. The archaeological area of Lepenski Vir is one of the oldest in the world. The remnants of this unique culture are dating from between 6500 – 6300 years BC. Lepenski Vir is the oldest urban settlement which represents one of the world’s most significant monuments of prehistoric times. This archaeological complex features monumental stone sculptures combining human and fish forms, depicting a pagan river deity, as well as a reconstruction of the original site, the reproduction of the original house from that period, skeletons, pottery, and other smaller items used by this peaceful civilization. See where the Danube is the widest, the deepest and the narrowest.
Day 7
Breakfast at the hotel.Free time until transfer to the airport according to flight schedule. Transfer to Belgrade airport.
